The late Micheal Barratt on The Goodies, giving a ‘news report’ a bit of gravitas.
This was my favourite episode.😁

No fun for England's batsmen in the test series, having to face the WI quicks.

The start of a long period of WI dominance in Test Cricket & England in particular. The Winter Tour(80/81) of the Caribbean was a dreadful not just on the pitch. Ken Barringtons untimely death plus the Test in Guyana cancelled over Robin Jackmans inclusion. Just as well there was not wall to wall coverage as we have today.
Very limited highlights on the BBC News only iirc.

Was that really 1980. I'm just amazed how little TV there was on. Open University, sport, and very little else. And this was before VCRs. Kids today don't know they're born.

Ken Barrington, alias "The Colonel", was very popular with the players, and his death was a huge blow.

Saw him play in the Ashes tour of 65/66. He was the one trying to hold both innings together as we fell to an innings defeat.
