Absolutely Stroud. I'm 55 now and have witnessed the NF, BNP, British Movement, EDL and Britain first and all of them have been nasty hate fuelled thugs who've done their best to use football clubs as recruiting grounds. You just have to look at the Daily Mail to see who the real hate mongers are. Despite this those football fans have largely turned away from the violence that marred the game in the 70s and 80s. You still see a few Stone Island clad morons about singing there ill informed right wing anthems but happily they seem to prefer meeting up privately to try to kick out each others limited supply of brain cells rather than ruin other people's enjoyment by doing it inside football grounds. Much as it seems reasonable to hate these right wing idiots, most of the people I know on the left prefer to just laugh at the ****'s!Really? As I remember it the level of violence and vindictiveness (to say nothing of racism) in and around football was way worse in the 1970s and 1980s than it is today, thankfully. And all political parties have their share of nutjobs so I'm not sure why you are singling out the SNP unless you are trying to make a crass political point - think you'll find the EDL and BNP have considerably more than their fair share, both of whom are on the extreme right.
As far as I am concerned, rivalries are what give derby matches their edge and make them so popular - I love to 'hate' Argyle as a concept, though I count some Argyle fans as my friends.
