Despite a 9 point gap, loads of teams below the Grecians & only 6 games left. Relegation was missed by a whisker on the last day.
At the top Stoke did not get promoted..The teams going up were Birmingham, Peterborough & Brentford.

His father also called Harry, owned a haulage business and was rather well off. My father worked for him and I met Harry junior a few times.10/9/1977
Harry Holman broke into the team & was a regular at the beginning of the season, without doubt one of the best all round sportsman to play for the Grecians. Sadly never fulfilled his full potential due to injury.
A very popular fella in Exeter until his untimely death at 62 in late 2020.
Told me a amusing story when as a young 19 year old Pro, he turned up for training in a new 3 litre Capri. In those days footballers at lower league clubs did not have flash new cars. Bob Saxton saw it & jumped on the bonnet, telling Harry “ I hate flash b@stards”
