Alan Banks testimonial was a couple of years after he left the club.

I remember going to the game..Memorably my cousin who was 14 got lead out of the Cowshed Choir by a copper for a misdemeanour, then left to cool his heels with a few others in the Black Maria Police van that was always parked in St James Rd in those days.
He was let out at the end of the game..

I went to that Leicester game, and got a few autographs from "big names" (!). It seemed even more exciting because City went through a few seasons in the early 1970s with no Cup draws (at home) against top sides.

There was a testimonial against Coventry too, around the same time.

It now has well in excess of 2000 match reports uploaded in a variety of formats much of the early reports are from Alex Wilson’s unpublished work. There are also over 3000 programmes digitised. We are currently adding film/pictures of games and players to matches and their A to Z.

That season was a struggle, although the signing of John Newman and Alan Banks did lift the spirits. The mass clearout in 1967 hadn't done much good.

Three of that Argiggle side ended up at SJP, an indication of how often we used to sign players from them in those days. An Argyle-supporting cousin of mine from West Devon reckoned that City's team were "Argyle's throw-outs", which I indignantly denied! :)
