IMO to get the best chance of winning games we need to play 4-3-3 or 3-4-3 depending on the opposition.

ie find a way of playing Jay, Nombe and Amond together. We looked toothless until Amond came on, he made a goal a minute later.

Width and crosses are good to have getting the ball in the area and having efforts on target is more important. Goals are rarely scored from out wide (unless you are Arron Davies at Scunthorpe ;)). Both our goals on Saturday came from getting behind the defence with looped crosses from the goal line.

I didn't know he was from Torbados. Luckily he ended up with us and not the chip nickers
I think we got him because they abandoned their youth system at the time.
Same as Ollie.
What a terrible decision that was by them

It was. But both players were late developers & even if Torquay had retained their youth system there is a possibility that they wouldn't have had the patience, or quality coaching, that City have, to ensure that both Ollie & MJ were ultimately successful.

Do we actually know this or is it assumed.
As someone who went to school in Ashburton as did Ollie and MJ (albeit 35 years later) I can confirm that the area is (or was in my time) solidly Torquay. in fact only me and Mr Lee the PE teacher were City fans, but as far as I know neither of them were ever a part of the chip nickers academy were they?

Wasn't Big Al claiming him as a fellow resident of Tedburn earlier this season or did he just mean Fingle Glen ? ?

Josh Key was at Torquay until he was 16 when they closed their academy and he turned down offers from Plymouth and Yeovil to sign for us.
Ollie was with the City academy from when he was 10 or 11 but not sure about MJ.
Also former City triallist Keiffer Moore was part of Torquay's academy until it was closed in about 2004. Not sure how many times Torquay have closed and re-opened their academy over the years.

states that MJ joined City in 2003 so he has been with us since the age of 7.

Torquay have history of opening/shutting down there academy! Also had Callum Morton at the same time as Josh (now West Brom). Pretty sure young Harry Lee was there too and came to City when they shut down.
