The only thing he had going for him was a reputation for setting up a team to be hard to beat. Once that doesn't happen, and the players have to look at themselves, he was never going to have any leeway given. Even with the injuries to key players that hampered him.

The board, and particularly Moshiri, need to realise that this won't be the end of fans disillusionment with the misdirection of the club though. Thanks for the cash but put someone in charge of the football side and let them get on with it without constant interfering. And for god's sake stop being taken for a ride by your agent "chums".

If, in the unlikely event, they were ever appointed to manage ECFC I wouldn’t be able to go to any of our matches.
I was staying near Gillingham in October and went to watch them play against Wigan.
Watching their antics on the touchline that day I could see they haven’t changed.

If only. There were a strong minority of fans who didn't realise what they had at the time when Moyes was manager. They do need to start to go in a fresh direction though which looks unlikely with those making the decision. Kenwright is too sentimental and Moshiri always wants a big name and is in the pockets of agents. The only person who could have taken a decision based on sound football knowledge was Marcel Brands who Rafa saw out of the club last month
