Wow you have all come out tonight haven't you. Gonna put it out there again as it seems a little complex for you all - it isn't my job to watch the youth players all day.

I imagine the youth players were demotivated enough when Perks made the bench instead of them.

You carry on being happy with Caldwell blocking the path for the youth players by keeping the likes of Yannick on the bench.

I'll carry on with my thoughts that he is the worst thing that could happen to this club and will leave us in a much worse situation than when he arrived - on and off the pitch.

in what way
In what way what? You said all managers expect Tisdale and Wenger were journeyman managers. I said they aren't.

Was Taylor a journeyman manager? All these academy coaches that go into management? Gary O'Neil, Liam Manning, Maresca, Martin, McKenna, etc just a few off the top off my head that I wouldn't count as journeyman. Mainly youth roles.

I'll run a detailed spreadsheet and pie chart to back it all up as soon as I get a chance.

We're in a lull of youth players sure but it doesn't help when our strongest position in terms of prospects (midfield with Kite, Borges, Richards and Beardmore) has its' pathway blocked by signing a player who is seemingly not 100% fit who will not have come to have limited game time. Now it's unlikely any of those four will get minutes and gain experience (for the latter three + Cummins) at the end of the season like Borges did last year.

Caldwell isn't interested in our youth at all, the squad is now so big with the crock of s#@t that he's brought in, that none of our youngsters are now training with the first team. GC is pretty much blocking every pathway that Matt Taylor opened!

Good deflection attempt my son but as you know even the ones who start off in youth football get sacked and then the journeyman career starts. Unless you are suggesting that none of your list are ever going to get sacked .........

This seems first hand knowledge that none of our youngsters are now training with the first team. Can you furnish us with the details of that. And Mr JGrecian yes you do need at least a passing knowledge of our youth players to suggest why they should be playing. Can I assume you did actually hear about the game against Reading and if so which of those do you think are ready

You watch training daily and can 100% confirm this - none of our youngsters, despite some being actual Professionals are not training with the Firsts?

Unlikely. Look, its going to be harder for a kid to break in in L1 than it was in the Conf or in L2 AND with a manager not so intrinsically linked with their development like Taylor or even Tiz was

We are going to have to be happy with 1 or 2 of real quality rather than having 4 or 5 in the team. If we simply dont have that player at the right time, we are going to have to accept that. We also lost two in the current age group (Pond and Stanno) who could have been regulars in our team now if they werent actually too good for L1

I don’t buy into this “Caldwell isn't interested in our youth/academy players”
Frankly the suggestion is laughable.
He has on several occasions said that the Academy is the basis on which the club goes forward. When he was employed he knew this.
The fact is,the current youth/academy players are not league 1 standard.
I am not a big fan of Caldwell, but it aint his fault we haven't got a Collins /Key in the current set up.

I’m remaining sanguine about the youth set up etc. GC has a style of play he sticks to, I don’t like what I’ve seen of it so far but he appears to be here to stay.

This style will have to be implemented in the academy, the current lads won’t have had that ingrained in them, they’ll have to adapt or they’ll be released.

I feel for Kite but he’s obviously not a GC type midfielder. He’s tried the lad at right back with no success so I guess that’s that.

Richards is only 16 and I think the first team action he’s had is for two reasons. 1. To see how he copes in the man’s game and 2. to ensure a potential raid by a higher level club is more likely to provide us with a decent fee either agreed or by tribunal.

Borges and Beardmore I wouldn’t write off, they’ll be in the pot of players who maybe need to adapt to prove they’d be an asset in a GC style set up.

It’s obvious GC is rigid with his style which can be evidenced by the type of players he’s personally brought into the club.

Agreed, I think it is is a bit much to suggest he isn't interested at all. I do think there may be a point that he has narrowed the pathways by signing a fair amount of bang average professionals who occupy spots that would have be left for young pros.

For instance, signing a player like Watts just pushes Borges even further down the pecking order. We have a massive squad, if we'd perhaps gone for more quality over quantity there could be some spots available for those youngsters who have shown some promise.
