Out of contract Paul Jones anyone?

Coming down for his third spell?

Only 34. Was last with Millwall. Knows the club. Free agent. May take a 3 month contract?
There won't be any incoming unless contracted players leave.

Surely we can afford an emergency short term deal for a keeper? We just trousered the best part of £4 million FFS, a 3 month deal wouldn't cost more that 24k.

We haven't trousered £4 million. It is less than that and being paid in installments.

I would hope we could get a back up keeper for a
lot less than 2k a week.

and because it has to be someone out of contract there is fitness to consider as well. And location etc.

Lewis Ward was asked in one of the interviews 'who goes in goal, if all all three subs have been made and you get injured?'
He rightly pointed out that when he broke his arm during a game last season, he carried on playing!

We can get an emergency loan, doesn't need to be an out of contract player.

yes, but my recollection is that you can only sign an emergency loan keeper if all the professional keepers at the club are certified as unavailable - that was the rule last season...

That appears to be what MT is confirming in the interview.

If Maxted is out long term, we will have to bring in someone, even on 3 month deal. If Ward gets injured we’d be screwed.

Maybe Matt Taylor needs to find his goalie gloves - he can control team from there as well !
