Paul Batty seemed such an upgrade as a midfielder from what we had before. He still played a decent part in 89/90 although not first choice.

Talking of 89/90, is that Macca I see scoring for Cardiff? 2,258 for Cardiff v Wolves - away fans banned?

Interestingly Chesterfield hadn't conceded at all in their first 4 games.
Three 1-0 wins and a 0-0 draw.

Yes,that was Brian McDermott.

After the trouble at Wolves opening day game at Scarborough.Wolves fans were banned at away grounds. It was ticket only for home supporters.
Hence the poor crowds at Wolves games for a few months..Iirc the ban was lifted after 3 months following pressure from other 4th Division clubs.

Incidentally Cardiff had a similar ban on their followers at away games at one point.

League tables 13th March 1976.
Hereford top of Division 3 & incredibly playing in Division 2 the next season.
Bristol City heading for the top flight where they would stay for 4 seasons
QPR so close to the League Title they had a great team & were within 45 mins of picking it up,before Liverpool scored 3 times at Molineux in a game that was played midweek after QPR had completed their season.

The glamorous lifestyle of the lower division footballer in the 1980s ... "Favourite Holiday Spot: Paignton". :)
Those player profiles that used to appear in the matchday programme could be hilarious. One season one of the questions was: 'Who would you most like to meet?' - and while most players answered with something pretty lame like 'Princess Diana', Jonny Challinor's response was: 'Whoever snapped my car aerial off last week.' 🙂

One of my favourites from another teams programme was : What is your favourite drink ? : Horlicks.

The player in question was obviously taking the Pi55,the penny dropped on the next question.
Favourite TV Programme ? : The Magic Roundabout 😁

Checking the date of these fixtures,I was surprised to see we have only played Wrexham 4 times in the past 30 years.
I recall it was a regular fixture in the 1980s.
