Reported in Athletic news that the FA will ratify no relegation from L2 after previously indicating they may not.
They are trying to find a path out of it though by investing in the impressive Florence Park training academy.Unfortunately Colchester are being run anything but responsibly and sustainably. They have lost 5 million pounds in the last 2 accounting years. and owe their owners 24.5 million pounds.
Fair enough , perhaps the rest of the teams will be sporting enough to share the costs.Being sporting unfortunately won’t save us if we run out of cash.Probably a sporting decision, everyone is in this game to be successful and to try and win something (well they should be)
So if L1 do the same and none come down only Bury have to be replaced with the ‘winner’ of L2.It was 20-4 in favour of no relegation. It was unanimous to end the season but with playoffs
Agree , my comment was made very cynically.Only if you are the one out of four clubs that wins the play offs.
Or if they want to play silly beggars, leave them with 23 clubs, and the loss of revenue !So if L1 do the same and none come down only Bury have to be replaced with the ‘winner’ of L2.
Yes..That’s how it could pan out, with one up from the NL to replace Burys place in the pyramid. So if L1 do the same and none come down only Bury have to be replaced with the ‘winner’ of L2.
So playoffs not required?
The whole thing is a complete and utter shambles with each league seemingly doing its own thing and no real direction from the EFL. And the Premiership? Well , as long as it gets its tv millions who cares.Or if they want to play silly beggars, leave them with 23 clubs, and the loss of revenue !
L1 might thank us in the long run, as with Swindon looking dodgy financially, they might well do a "Bury" on them !
Hard to know exactly what is going on at Swindon but it is never a good sign when things end up in court! However, it is worth remembering that neither Crewe or Plymouth are exactly financially robust. The former lost 800 000 pounds in each of their last 2 accounts and the latter are reliant on their owner to fund ongoing losses.Or if they want to play silly beggars, leave them with 23 clubs, and the loss of revenue !
