Amazing amount of work and kit required to get a pitch sorted, isn't there? Not just a case of mowing the lawn and painting a few lines.

One question that has always bugged me. Does anyone know why you often see ground staff mowing the pitch immediately after a match? Can't it wait until the next day?

Scarifying the pitch mechanically and raking up the thatch manually; thirsty work !
