There is a process for sacking someone for gross misconduct. Making snarky remarks at a post match press conference is not enough to warrant instant dismissal.

It enough to terminate mine, public criticism of the organisation is specifically mentioned in the contract as gross misconduct and summary dismissal. That doesn't mean its in all contracts of course, but it is a possibility.
