New player who has signed for Somerset-
http://www.somersetcountycc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/News/Newsdetail/0,,11333~2547771,00.html

I'm watching him today on Sky sports 2 playing for South Africa
Slightly unfortunate that when I go to the article on the link the web page is headed "Comedy at the County Ground."

Not sure about this signing. Will his bowling have sufficient pace and bite on the County Ground batter's* paradise ?

(* Awaits a blast from Jason)

Its not the nailed on draw venue that it used to be.

Consider yourself blasted.

Batter is something you have on fried fish.

Depends on the degree of doctorage to the square this winter.

Last season the 4 day pitches were an unpredictable mixture of torpor inducing flat tops and some more lively affairs. You couldn't always tell from a look at the pitch how it would play. Some very green tinged pitches were still batters' paradises.

Hard luck Jase. I think you were timed out :p

Plural of bowler is bowlers.

Plural of batter is batters.

Batsman is a sexist word so Batsmen is non PC.

Batspersons conjures up images of Harriet Harperson so cannot be countenanced.

I have PC logic to support me.

The word "batsman", like the word "chairman" isn't, contrary to the use of the suffix "man", gender-specific. So bleedin' well THERE.

So why do they now address the chairman/chairwoman/chairperson as "Chair ?"

They don't. Unless they're overly "Harperson" morons.

I have heard the dreadful use of the word "Chair" in the context of listening to Parliamentary Select Committee hearings; so I can see your point.
