Disagree. Plus I dont think his current form has anything at all to do with the armband as some have inferred. Matty will come good again. A talented footballer and talent will always out.
I just have to respond to that "Matty will come good again" comment Geoff. I've always felt that Jay was never quite good enough to be playing in the Football League, let alone playing for us. Nothing over the past couple of seasons has lead me to conclude differently, and I dont altogether see what some fans think of him. He's lightweight, soft in the tackle, not technically all that good, and he loses the ball far too easily. WTF Taylor has bestowed the captaincy on him for, I do not know. He certainly doesnt seem to act the part, or lead by example. I certainly dont see him as an integral part of a team making a promotion challenge; that said, from what I've seen, we'll be nowhere near those dizzy heights this season.

At long last someone actually talks some sense about Jay
Always thought he was not up to it and not seeing him for 18 months thought he would be much improved but seeing him in Psf and at home far from convinced
Never a captain of the team
Make him club captain and spokesman yes
Now wait for it .....the Flack and not Steve another overacted player

Well, I guess you are entitled to your opinion regardless how utterly wrong it is.
Well I think you are wrong
Would never get in the team if everyone was fit and certainly not good enough to lace laws bootlaces
That’s my opinion

We will see
Not worth his place at the moment
If you think he is a good captain.....well that sums up your comments

Proof is in the pudding.
Absolute load of old tosh, there are many ways to be a leader, you don't just have to shout and cajole. I think the idea was that he would lead by example, with his team mates having him as a reference point for their performances.

The comment about being unconcerned by the lack of goals is desperate, it’s alarming, goals are everything in football they win you games. what if these players are back in the side and not scoring? Why Archie Collins DM/CM was mentioned in the topic I will never know. Nombe has played 1 league game for us yes, played championship and L1 too but Literally next no record of scoring goals regularly and with Taylor saying he will “pretty much guarantee we will get better in an attacking sense“ (I know we paid a fee and gave him 3 years etc) but that’s a lot pinned on Nombe to lead us to glory and seems like a lot of eggs are in 1 basket. As many said all summer ok Nombe is in brilliant, and he’s certainly got the makings to be a serious player and I myself do believe he will score goals for us but if he’s injured or absent in poor form whatever we are absolutely fxxxxd.

Still lacking quality and depth in a number of areas and struggle to see both quality and depth being addressed to the extent it needs to by the end of august. However i am looking forward to returning to SJP this coming weekend, hopefully I’ll be a good omen.
