It does feel like the model we have resigns us to forever being a league two size club. Even when we get promoted we’re doing it on a mid table league two budget. It’s nice being fan owned but you do think we need to revise our model somehow if we want to establish ourselves as a league one club or have any ambition of progressing to the championship one day.
We're doing this right now though. One iffy transfer window doesn't change that.

It’s not about having one iffy transfer window. Our budget is nowhere near most the clubs in this league, or even some teams in league two/national league and probably never will be unless the model is altered some how.

It could be bigger with the Trust ownership model, but it has to grow organically, better performances, more bums on seats, more sponsorship revenue, more money from player sales and so on.

I’d personally much rather we try to do that than play boom or bust millionaires toy like so many other clubs.

Don’t say that too loudly a lot of our fans seem to think Bob the builder will take over and fleece the club and we will end up non league again...it’s something that surely needs to be looked at. Increasing size city, increasing gates…great academy model. Successful club with the potential to build further…has to be a good investment for someone.

Because Argyle recently had a four million pound investment and Rovers lose seven figures every year.
That doesn’t answer the question at all 😂

Let’s see what the cost of living cross does to bums on seats

Interesting times ahead for our “sustainable” model. Also many thanks to Key for becoming completely average.

Anyone know why just on the deadline day thread I get the message
‘ You have insufficient privileges to reply here.’
Every other thread allows me to reply as usual.

Yes it does. They offer more money for players because they have more. Argyle through investment and 5k more bums on seats every game. A decent prawn sandwich brigade for the first time ever, the taverners chucking money about left right and centre and bringing in loads for the club. The council mostly being inside for them.

Rovers' owner spunks a fortune every year and they managed to finish one place above us last year.

That's why we can't afford those players.

I always wonder if we are open for offers? Well yeah there’s a lot money in football these days, you don’t have to the local jeweller like Ivor Doble in charge it’s not 1990 and we are not bankrupt. Anyway probably for another thread and another day…not off the back of an appalling poor transfer window that is concerning us all.
