'Our best player' sometimes gets mixed up 'with our most talented player'. Randall is undoubtedly talented but our best player........ That is still very open for debate.Randall was rightly touted as our best player that day and Northampton rightly put two men on him, he received some aweful treatment. One early assassination attempt deserved a sending off but it was probably too early for that. Williams didn't get the support he needed and Northampton had done their job, Randelll was nullified as would anyone else be under those circumstances.
OK Greasy, fair enough, must have been Geoffrey.Never had a problem with Ollie that I recall.
One game? You can't really expect anyone to judge him on one game? He was crap that day, just like the rest of our players. Means very little in the context of this discussion though.Again, I refer to what I said earlier in the week about Randell. Last season he was somewhat of an unknown quantity. This season the opposition know what he is about. He likes the ball to his feet, very rarely looks to move on to a pass, has nothing to write home about with his right foot and doesn't do a physical contest. So you get touch tight to him, stand on his left foot and rough him up a bit just like Northampton did in the play off final. Tell me how effective he was that night?
He looked very lively when he played, sadly Tisdale rarely used to give him more than twenty minutes off the bench.Kyle Edwards didn't look anything special for us, but he did fine in the Championship and now has a chance in the Premier League.
So you think other teams aren't going to look to that when they're looking at ways to keep him quiet? Once one team finds a weakness you can bet that others are going to jump on it. It's up to Randell then to find another way. The penny has to drop for him to do so.One game? You can't really expect anyone to judge him on one game? Just because Northampton kept him quiet on one particular day, a day when his team mates failed to play to their usual standard, doesn't mean everyone else will now be able to replicate that. In the first half against Bristol City, Randell looked direct and dangerous as he was so often last season. Did they not see the play off final? It's too simplistic to say that he's now been worked out and he has to find another way. Of course players need options, but he has time on his side. I say again, I think he'll make it in the Championship. So you think other teams aren't going to look to that when they're looking at ways to keep him quiet? If he did go to the Champ'ship the referees would be of a higher standard than in Div 2 Also he would be surrounded by better players than he is at City :more of the chances he would create would be taken. So you think other teams aren't going to look to that when they're looking at ways to keep him quiet? You don't have to 'kick the life out of someone' to gain the uperhand physically. If he did go to the Champ'ship the referees would be of a higher standard than in Div 2 Also he would be surrounded by better players than he is at City :more of the chances he would create would be taken.
He was in the Div 2 team of the year, IINM wasn't he?
Finally, obviously if he gets the life kicked out of him his performance will suffer. That's not Williams' fault What do you expect him to do if a thug is after him in a game : do a Superman stunt and fly over him?
I'm not saying he would make it in the Ch'ship but he might do, which is why a club might take a punt on him. They did for Stockley.
