Be interesting to see if Taylor fancies him. If not, Harley will be off to MK in January.

Our only player who controls the ball with his first touch and can pass the ball to our own players, rather than give it to the opposition. Our best midfielder by a country mile.

Might be sooner than January.

You would love to think so....It will send out a sign to everyone that Matt Taylor is his own man and won't indulge players that only perform when they 'fancy it'

Even better would be for Matt T to push Harley into performing consistently to his best ability, if that is still possible.

Harley when given space is a joy to watch.

Opposition teams know this though and try to press him fast when he's playing in the middle of the park. In the games this year where he has looked really good (Lincoln etc) they have given him enough space to turn and play.

He's technically one of the most gifted players with the ball I've seen at SJP... when he's allowed time.

Ryan Harley, legend...? ,probably. When people look back in a few years, it'll be the big performances in big games they remember. The brace vs. Leeds... Torquay away in the conf. Play offs... running the show vs. argyle, that goal vs. Huddersfield. He has enough in the bank. Whether he's been an effective player for us over the long haul is more debateable. His powers seem to have waned since he returned but he's still got big performances in him, as he had anonymous, ponderous ones in his halcyon years.

I think Harley was very influential in his first spell. He had an attacking often free role and for a time our attack revolved around him. The only thing I will be interested to see is with a fresh manager how Taylor uses him. A potential opportunity for Harley, if he has a similar season to this one then he might get released when he is out of contract.
Who knows whether he became frustrated at times with Tisdale's idiosyncrasies? Would he, given the chance, stay if he was given more freedom to express his natural game or shuffle off to MK for more of the same.

Play him in the right position and he might start getting that.

Equally, he needs other players around him who are on his (superior) wavelength. Play him alongside Tilson and James and he'll struggle, especially when we have a lone big man up front and no pace in the team. Play him with Boatang and a Noble-like figure and have some pace up front / out wide and we'll see a different Harley.
