I'm hoping that we can avoid second lockdown. Numbers are still low where I am, so it's a waiting game. No particular panic buying this morning, though plenty had loads of toilet paper. We're next to a university, so it'll will be interesting when they turn up. Everyone wears a mask in the shop, most people use the anti-bac hand gel on the way in. It's been nice weather, so any form of lock down is easier when the weather is nice.

Fingers crossed for my Italian rail adventure next month!

If the second wave was inevitable (which it was) why was Boris blathering on about a normal Christmas not so long ago ?

The guy should really just shut up and stop spouting drivel

The same reason that Hancock was saying that if you are in the slightest doubt, get a test. What comes out of their mouths often has little basis in reality or sense. You can't be a gloomster and doomster remember. All is for the best, in this best of possible worlds.

A second lockdown was inevitable months ago. People just got too casual. Things like eat out to help out only encouraged transmission.

Any future lockdown will be different though, the vast majority of people will still need to work, furlough needs to end unless it is very industry specific, businesses have taken the p!$$ out of it (as expected).

Boris is and always has been a buffoon however large swathes of the general public are also to blame. Those two young English footballers are a classic example, they didn't have the discipline to stay in their bubble for a couple of days, sums it up really.
