A bit of an upset in the second fight featured there as Horace Notice stopped Hughroy Currie in the sixth round. Notice was still British and Commonwealth Champion when they had a rematch 18 months and 5 fights later, this time stopping Currie in the 10th. Unfortunately for Horace that was his last fight as he was forced to retire with a detached retina and so ended 16-0. He was looking to step up to Frank Bruno's old European title but it wasn't to be.12th April 1986
The days of international boxing on terrestrial TV.
Former Essex Fire Brigade Fireman, Terry Marsh on in the afternoon. Marsh was unbeaten in his professional career(his amateur one was pretty good too) finishing as World Welterweight Champion before a diagnosis of epilepsy finished his career.
He was quite a big well know name of the era. it was a bit of a shock when he was arrested for the attempted murder of promoter Frank Warren in 1989, who was shot by a hooded gunman. No positive id, just bad blood between Marsh & Warren as a motive plus Marsh’s familiarity with guns after a stint in the RM serving in Ulsters bandit country around Crossmaglen. Marsh spent nearly a year on Remand before being acquitted in Court.

Interesting that wresting had moved to a lunch-time slot from its 4'oclock time. It was always good to watch wresting with the football scores scrolling accross thebottom of the screen. I presume World of Sport had been scrapped by 1989?12th April 1986
