Which neatly got around the problem of buying cigarettes when under age, though the newsagent on Magdalen Road didn't bother with!Cigarette machines on the side of newsagents etc, Spent my dinner money for packet of 10 ciggies. They'd be totally ripped off and stolen if they around nowadays.

I can’t remember it in the 1970s.
Children getting their parents fags was very common back then...

Back in the late 60s I remember the shop up the road from Exmouth School used to sell single ciggies at break time to any kids who wanted (and could afford) them.Many newsagents were never bothered about selling fags to under 16's It was probably a good earner for them.
