As far as I can find the longest run of undefeated games in the fourth tier of English football is 28 games by Scunthorpe in 2013/14. The run ended when they lost to City at SJP on 26th April 2014. They didn’t play any cup games during this run.

someone on the matchday thread observed we have scored at least two goals in the last 7 league games and asked if this is getting close to any record.

I ran this thru the dataset I have (football league only, not conference)

7 games matches a run from 1977 (spanning seasons)
8 games was managed in 1931 (31/32 season)
but the one time we have bettered that is 15 games in 1958/59

Without wanting to throw a spanner in the works, does the game against Chelsea U21 not go down as a defeat. I appreciate we drew 1-1, but we then lost on pens. If that was a proper cup game, we would be out, so I'm not sure many fans would call it undefeated if it was FA or League cup. For official stats purposes, would FA & League cup games lost on penalties (or even in ET), also go down as a 90 minute draw and therefore part of an undefeated streak?

I think penalty shoot outs in the PJT are treated slightly differently - it's not a shoot out to decide who wins or loses, just for a bonus point?
