Bad places are best not revisited Tavy
Some may argue that, collectively, we were actually a happier bunch in the sixties. Debt/GDP/Ratios etc at the end of the day are just numbers.

From last weeks Economist a view with which I agree:

Nicholas Crafts, a leading historian of Britain’s economy, argues that the real cause of the British disease was a lack of competition. The economy was cartelised in the interwar years and sheltered from international competition in the post-war decades. Thatcher, by his reckoning, deserves credit for liberalising markets and deregulating industries, but was helped by the wider exposure of firms to international competitive pressure from entry into the eec and the creation of the European Single Market in the mid-1980s.

Crony capitalism here we come.

No, but just saying things move on and usually get better.
Japan’s debt to gdp ratio (pre covid) is 223% BTW, our is now 99.4%.
This.

I've watched the BBC coverage of the 2016 EU Referendum vote over many times. What really stood out was the collective pant wetting over the Pound's exchange rate which went through the floor in a matter of minutes at around 1am. Ring leader that night was Kamal Ahmed who egged the mob on to a collective heart attack.

Then Andrea Leadsom entered the studio. With a calm head she explained that this was entirely expected, that the City doesn't like surprises or uncertainty and that once a path had been decided upon, over the long term things would improve. Of course they all looked at her as if she was some kind of loon, but she was the only one in the room that had actually worked in the City. The rest, Ahmed included, had never had a real job in their lives.

From my reckoning the only thing you ‘project fear’ peddlers have left is the ‘death of a thousand cuts’ scenario which I take to mean a longer term clear and obvious decline in the British economy owing to being outside the EU?
You willing at this stage Elgy to admit that all the short to medium term predictions of doom were indeed a tad over exaggerated? 😀
The 'death of a thousand cuts' scenario has already started. Just listen to the siren voices currently strangled in red tape; non-tariff barriers only helps make UK businesses less competitive in its largest marketplace. That is a fact of life, Tav.

A lot of forewarnings from the experts were predicated on a 'no deal' scenario.

The Alex Salmon Inquiry has today ordered the release of key documents including WhatsApp messages. Insiders reckon that when these come into the public domain, Krankie will be toast.

One can but hope.

Very nasty episode for the SNP, Be interesting to see the outcome. Meanwhile in Wales, The Welsh Tory leader quits after being seen with others drinking when there was a ban on pubs serving alcohol.

She was caught lying, again, about Covid vaccination figures again today. Claimed it was 34% when it is actually 13% of the over 80's. More populism.

Is the UK vaccine rollout being coordinated by the UK Government or are the four nations doing the logistics themselves?

My understanding is the procurement is done by UK Gov, and it is divided strictly by population between the 4 nations. However the actual vaccination process is devolved. The who, the where and the how is a matter for Hancock (Eng) and then Foster, Sturgeon and Drakeford. So far Hancock and Foster are doing well, the other two not so much. The Scottish Health Minister is an appalling chain smoking communist called Jeanne Freeman. She makes Williamson look competent.

The normal rules of politics no longer exists in Scotland, the SNP Government up there are a borderline cult and with only minimal press and media scrutiny the likes of Sturgeon can just about get away with murder.
