The King is Dead. Long Live The King!
Deduct £1.8m (the original fee they paid us), then it's 20% of the remainder apparently .

Edit, yep what Moomin just said !
Blimey that's a decent amount of money... so me get this straight, we will be rooting for Watkins to keep banging the goals in, Brentford to keep winning, but not to get automatic promotion, the Bees to get to the play off final, Ollie to get a hattrrick in said match at Wembley, Brentford to lose and stay down. A progressive mid table PL team snap up a diapointed but ambitious Ollie for tens of millions, then we get the cash?

Ollie might just as well stay at Bournemouth and mirror the ongoing career of Callum Wilson whose career has probably peaked at Bournemouth after a long stint and is now unlikely to go anywhere for big money.

When did Ollie sign for Bournemouth ? And more importantly did we receive our sell on fee ? 😎

Ha, I meant Ollie might stay at Brentford of course! Silly me, coconut to CB.

My point was if Brentford go up any money for us could just melt away, could even happen if they don't go up.

Call me an old romantic, but I'm hoping Ollie's goals fire the Bees to promotion, he stays for another year – during which he scores a shed load of goals – and is sold for circa £50m next summer.

Called me a cynical pragmatist, but I'd rather have £5M now to ensure we are still around to be sorry we missed out on £10M.

A bird in the hand and all that.

I agree.

This got me thinking... let's say Brentford get promoted and Ollie decides he's going to stay for another year to play in the club's new stadium.

Might there, perhaps, be scope for the two clubs to come to an agreement whereby Brentford could buy out the sell-on clause in Ollie's contact now for a mutually agreeable amount, let's say £3m, rather than run the risk it might cost them several times that a bit further down the road?
