Little things that annoy you

A family friend in the motor trade once said that he wasn't too keen on modern technology in cars ("More to go wrong") - and this was in the 80s!

One problem I've had is with electric windows - annoying expense, as it's non-essential. I haven't reached the point yet when I lack the strength to wind a window down.
I've also had a problem with an electric window on a citroen. It kept slipping down. Was looking at about 700 quid to sort but I ended up sticking a piece of wood underneath inside the door frame and it remained fixed although I couldn't open it. Like you say, a massive expense for something so unecessary.

In RaWZ we trust....Amen.
I remember back in the day on a Sunday where my father would always be tinkering on the car, Bonnet up and all the neighbours blokes would do exactly the same and at time most would be around one car discussing whats wrong with it. Can't do that nowadays. (Should probably be on the "Things you don't see anymore" thread)
I remember my dad showing me how to service my Mini when I was 17..Nothing too technical back then.plugs, points, oil & air filter change...Enough knowledge to feel confident around a engine back then & it got me going on many occasions.

Not a chance on a modern car Olds, They're so complicated you can only take it to a garage, Unless you have thousands of pounds in electronic equipment in your shed!

Yep..Specialist diagnostics & parts mean you have to go to the main dealer franchise for many problems, which is of course what manufacturers want.More money is made from that than selling cars.

Not very fond memories of grinding the valves by hand on my old Ford Anglia years ago. :)

A trip to the garage used to involve a discussion with a bloke covered in grease and holding a spanner. Now a bloke in a suit says let's plug the car into the computer.

Yes, the more complicated the better from their point of view. That means a smaller garage probably won't be able to do the job.

These bloody adverts for dating like Elite Singles and E-Harmony, They have a beautiful woman or a hunky hunk going on about them, Like any of them would have trouble pulling someone they fancy and the latest is a bloke with a dog, Virtually saying "Look at me with my dog, I'm so caring and such a catch!" and also the naffest lines to read out!

The frigging junk food drive through on Marsh Barton Road(no idea which one it is because I do not visit American fast food franchises)
It causes huge tail backs as far as Alphington Rd.
Why the ever dumb City Council ever gave planning permission for such a venture in sensitive road area is anyone’s guess...And they plan on making the city Carbon Neutral !! Don’t make me laugh
