I recently read about the match England Women’s U21s played at SJP in November 2006.
The programme for the game is on the ever reliable Grecian Archive.
I didn’t attend but was interested to see that a youthful Jill Scott, Steph Houghton and Lianne Sanderson were all in the squad that day.
Mike Mullarkey was referee 🙂 Lee Swabey was one of his assistants 😬
Anyway good luck to the Lionesses later this morning in Australia.

I know @Leads was in attendance - the women's game has come on leaps an bounds since then it must be said.

1-0 England at half time, still fairly cagey but England with the better chances. England not being helped by some 'home' refereeing, nothing fouls being given against England whilst late, very obvious challenges being allowed to run.

England's best performance of the tournament. They had good control for the majority of the game and stopped the Aussies sustaining any momentum. Very good goals from both sides as well. 3-1 was probably the right score in the end

I certainly was!

England have been pretty poor up until the semis but turned it on when they needed to. Let's hope they can do it in the final :)
