At our level a Director of Football often seems to be a proxy for someone with a bit of experience who can act as a sounding-board or mentor for a younger manager. Eric possibly did that for Matt Taylor last season but it's interesting that there is no-one over 40 on the coaching staff this year. However, I get the impression that one of the reasons Eric left was because he felt the manager didn't need the benefit of his wisdom anymore and was more than capable of doing the job without his help.Rightly never replaced Steve Perryman, Clubs at our level do not need a DOF, Seems a vanity and costly project for small clubs. If a DOF goes round scouting players, Setting up deals, Let's be honest where we and FGR are we go shopping at bargain basket level.
