People talk about Mansfield chucking money around left, right and centre. Whilst they have done this they have cut it down big time.

Just looked at their squad, with Maynard and Cook leaving they only have Reid and Bowery as strikers with any kind of experience. Previously they have had 5 or 6 genuine first team strikers.

So 0.3%. In fairness that is showing that footballers may be in one of the safest 'bubbles' possible.

Indeed. here's the link

Swindon Town finances 'on the brink', says chairman Lee Power - BBC Sport

If a team like Swindon are on the brink, what does it say about others? This is telling

"Swindon played two matches in front of crowds of 2,000 earlier this season, but actually lost money on them as the costs of putting the games on with extra stewarding outweighed the income from tickets."

It says what a precarious position most clubs will be in with their cashflow and only generosity of their owners in covering debts or borrowing or prudent use of any reserves built up (IE City) is keeping clubs going. The PL "bailout" is a help but not a guarantee.

I cannot see lower league clubs being happy starting next season without some supporters in the ground more judged on a percentage of capacity rather than a flat cap and budgets will be coming down for most salary cap or not.
