MT confirms we were close to signing someone. Also confirms Richardson and Randall (who stays with us for now) will fight for the LWB role until a replacement is found.

Didn’t read it like that. It seemed like he was saying we were close to getting someone yesterday and today, but wasn’t successful?
Either way, I’m more than happy for Richardson to get another chance and Randall on the bench is a good thing

So is Hartridge not coming back then? Very disappointing if true.

Many thanks. I must confess I haven't read the article yet.

Hartridge is not a full back so not surprised by this.

He can play LB and has done so several times, rather well IMO. But MT said recently that he sees him as more in the Moxey mould as a left sided CB in a three, and he wants a more attacking LWB as a replacement for Sparkes for the rest of the season.

Hep, and as much as I rate Hartridge, I cant see him playing in an attacking role.

He was LB the time I saw him (Grimsby at home last season) and I thought he didn't perform well - one thing that struck me, and it's likely down to inexperience more than anything, was that he was very timid in the air that day.

However, I'm assured he was outstanding last week against Ipswich.

That said - agreed with others that he clearly wouldn't be suited to a LWB role.

Technically Hartridge looks a steady player with a decent left foot. My concerns are his lack of pace and lack of aggression when attacking the ball. I don't think he is ready for league 2 football yet.
