I think we have to look at Brizzle Rovers last season. First half of the season they couldn't buy a home win but did OK away, second have of the season they sorted themselves out at home and look what happened.
And the previous season didn't Scunthorpe go on a 29 match unbeaten run

Some of the PASOTI crowd are touting us for top three, nerves in Cornwall or an unbiased view ?

Won't make top 3. Thats nailed on as Donny, Scum and Portsmouth (who will beat us and end the run)

We could and maybe should make top 7 and we'd all have taken that in August, November and now

I would not put a penny on that. Pompey's form is erratic, including at home.

If we can keep Watkins and Wheeler in this windiw who knows?
Much better than picking up a quick million and Watkin's value will only increase as we know.

Anything IS still possible, whilst we keep winning. Portsmouth's last ten matches W5 D3 L2 Pts 18/30, City W7 D2 L1 Pts 23/30. Even a one goal win on sat would take us to within three points of Pompey and level on goal difference. Add a win over Wycombe and we would be above both in the table, and probably looking to chase down Luton and Carlisle. Added to that whilst we play Crewe, Pompey are at Wycombe, so one or both will lose points.

With 20 matches to go, anything can happen just as long as we maintain the current form. UTC !

You go me on the alarm clock
Once again I revert to dull objective statistics to answer a subjective question ;)

We are currently on 39 points from 26 games, or 1.5 points per game. Over the last 10 seasons, the average points for 3rd place in League Two has been 82.6 points (lets call it 83 - this includes the year we finished 2nd with 79). The last two seasons, 3rd place had 85 points (and one year as high as 88). But just to get the average of 83, we would need to pull in 1.8 points per game over the full season.

Right now, even with the recent amazing run of form, we are still some way short of the form we would need *over the whole season* to make the auto promotion spots. We are also (but only just) short of the form we would need *over the whole season* to make the playoff spots (1.63 points per game).

That said, our *recent* form, is certainly good enough - starting with the Barnet game, we have taken 29 points from 14 games - 2.2 points per game and definitely good enough. Were we to maintain exactly the same form to the end of the season, we would secure another 44 points, which by happy chance would take our season total to... 83.

So based on that tedious statistical analysis - its not impossible that, if we maintain this current stunning run of form for the next 20 games, we would make the automatic promotion spots (in an average year - current 3rd place Carlisle have 48 points from 27 games, 1.77 points per game, suggesting that this year may actually be slightly behind the average so 81 or 82 points may be enough). However if we drop below 2 points per game over the next 20 games, then realistically we should forget auto promotion and think instead about the playoffs - and if we drop below 1.7 points per game, we might also struggle for the playoffs as well.
