A hattrick for Lily Burton, two goals each for that girl 'arris (that will do her confidence the world of good), Poppy Cloke, Lexi Watts and one each for Harriett Bowring and captain Yvie Miller.

Just spoke to Chloe, it sounds like it could have and should have been more had it not been for the intervention of a dodgy lino...... dodgy enough for Lily to get sin binned although Lil isn't exactly backward in coming forward with an opinion and Poppy not far off if going the same way. Chloe has another one chalked off due to said lino.......

Early start for The Reserves today as they are away at Southampton, not sure whether it's Southampton or Southampton Ladies.

A prelude to the big match on Monday as the Reserves entertain Argiggle Womens Development at Exwick, ko 2:30pm. Chloe's first real Devon Derby, they've played Torquay before, to play in. Needless to say, she is right up for it. ;)

City 1-1 Argiggle. Probably the best performance and match I've seen involving the reserves/development side in the three seasons I've been watching them. City were lucky not to be a goal down in the first minute when City keeper Lucy Spiller went chasing after a ball she shouldn't have even been thinking about going for and bought down the Argyle striker. Fortunately Argyle thumped the resultant penalty against the base of the post. City grew into the game and played the better football although Argyle created the better chances which eventually they took when Bronwyn Cousins indecision to either attack a long ball over the top or drop off and mop it up lead her to being left in nomansland as the ball bounced over her allowing the Argyle forward to get in around the back and lob an advancing Spiller which resulted going in one down at half time.
Changes were made at half in time in both peronnel and shape which, along with the aid of a bit of a breeze, helped City push Argyle back but still without creating too many clear chances. Eventually City got the equaliser they were chasing when City attacked down the right, the ball broke inside to captain Yvie Miller for her to bend a shot into the bottom left corner. Argyle started to produce the better chances again although the best chance came to City when that girl 'arris was put through by Bow Jackson only to be smothered out by the keeper.
So eventually it ended 1-1. Some points of note, this is by far and away the best City reserve/development side in Chloe's time there consequently they are playing the best standard of football in those three years which is very obviously helped by playing in a league of decent standard. Those of you who have followed the threads around womens football over the last couple of seasons might recall me saying to our womens football advocate friend, whose name escapes me at the moment, to be patient and you will start to see an improvement in the womens game at grass routes level in a couple of years time because the girls who were a couple of years behind Chloe's age group would start to come through and today you could see it. Some of the younger members of both sides are more footballing savvy than certainly the more, shall we say, established members of City's side and those established members are going to have to step their game up and learn some not too difficult lessons very quickly or they are going to fall by the wayside in the not too distant future............. and I include Chloe in that. As it currently stands, it's though no fault of their own. They've been playing housewives football for the last couple of seasons where they've not really had to embed good habits into their game and they certainly didn't have the footballing educational opportunities that their younger counterparts have had in terms of length. But they have to do it now and if they don't change their habits and start learning in training, I doubt they will be there next season because the next year will be coming through and will push them out.

Out with a cold, hoping to be back against The Scummers (and no I don't care it's the women's side, they all wear the same shirt) on Sunday.
