Certain individuals are always on about Christy’s height but Pickford is no giant.

Quite right - only seems to cover just over half of the goal. And tends to leave an unnecessarily large triangle on one side.

Thankfully, Big hands though!!!! (Or is it just the gloves? ;) )

If i had to agree with you we would both be wrong
Finally calmed down after the penalties, How they had 11 players on the pitch is beyond a joke and whoever was doing the VAR shouldn't be allowed to do another game in this tournament.

The ref certainly lost control at times and should have enforced the rules but then he was Yank !

Onwards and upwards to Saturday now.

As he has said in his after match interview he believes that he his agility more than makes up for his lack of height. Big gloves or not he had the ability and agility to throw his hand up and get a strong hand to the ball and make as good a penalty save as you are likely to see.

Phew!

Note to England.

When the team you are playing against is a goal behind, picking up a card with every challenge and losing the plot big time it's probably not the best tactic to prove you can 'control' a game by slowing the pace and allowing the opposition time to regain composure.

But great to see us win a penalty shoot out even when, as ever, the crucial penalty is Dier ..... ;)

Probably your cheapest shot thus far; you're getting really desperate of late aren't you? As an aside, I would have thought there was more than an element of racism in the above comment? Why dont you just bugger off for a while and give us all a break? Instead of continuing with your worrying tendencies? All you do is take threads off topic with your desperate antics.

The perfect game for us : it was a real test in many ways but we came through it. Now our young team is experienced in surviving a battle. Well done to the lads : nobody can doubt their spirit and harmony.
The ref was awful : like a weak schoolteacher lecturing kinds who don"t give a sh*t. Colombia got their just desserts.
Sweden is big and strong but I think a more suitable opponent.
I'll be watching on the Costa del Bali and even the missus is going to come along !!

Clearly the american referee didnt have a good game, but what more could he have done to strike a balance between applying the rules, yet trying to ensure that the player count on the pitch stayed at more than 6 a side before half time? And we stooped to their level progressively. Its okay saying the double head-butt should have been a straight red, but what did you think of the occasion when one of our players (who's name escapes me) lashed out at a Colombian players head with a boot when he was on the ground, missing by just a whisker? His general game decisions were right, he obviously wanted to try to make a game of it with his cards/decisions, like when the worlds best referee (at that time) Howard Webb, "didn't see" alonzo get a set of studs to the chest in that WC Final of yesteryear! And in the unlikely event that he didnt see it, Mullarkey and his mate surely did! You cant have it all ways.
