With regard to your football analogy, reminds me of Exeter City FC
I was thinking of another team, who play in blue, within the same county as the Ageas - but I can see that the analogy may extend to other sides.

I imagine Ben Close as a Hants no. 3 batsman. 50 or so FC games, 3 scintillating hundreds; and an average around 28 that's been at that level the whole time.

Trade him off for Joe Weatherly averaging 26. As he is 6’ 3”” ideal to lead the line at Fratton and scoring 8 goals a season
