If we go and lose tomorrow it will all be instantly forgotten in the meltdown !Doh !
Sean McCarthy needed a job lot just for himself back in the day !I would think there is a greater need to invest in a job lot of treatment tables for the C&F.
A common and popular misunderstanding?!...... supporter owned but not run?! Not sure where you draw the line. We are all supporters in the trust, otherwise what’s the point?! How can the supporters not be the biggest influence on the company board. They willingly take our money and continue to need our money. That’s how it works when you don’t have a rich owner. It’s a committee that delegates other people’s money. Supporters are not stupid and don’t like being mugged off or taken for granted.It is a common and popular misunderstanding that we are a supporter owned and run club. Supporter owned? Yes. Supporter run? No. The job of the Trust is to provide governance of the Club Board on behalf of its membership.
Asuming you are a Trust member, you elect/delegate the mebers of the Trust Board to deal with these matters on your behalf, in consultation with the football club board and the finance director. If every decision were to be put to the membership inertia would be the name of the game. Both boards are in full agreement on this, along with the other three areas of spending, as you will see below.
If the Trust Board were not the majority shareholder and the club was under traditional ownership, these decisions would be made with no input whatsoever from supporters. If you are not a Trust member, well.......it's much the same as that.
When this decision was formally announced, these comments were included;
Nick Hawker, chair of the Supporters' Trust, said: “All of these items have been explored in full and both boards believe the time is right to make these investments. We are confident we will see rewards, each in a different way, from these activities.
“All of our major financial decisions are robustly examined. We believe each of these items is as important as the other for various reasons, and each will continue to stand us in good stead for the future. We often hear requests and discussion from our fans regarding a digital scoreboard and it is something we have been exploring for some time, so we’re really pleased to be able to inform people of that decision. On their return to the park, fans will also have an improved experience in the shop, thanks to a number of planned internal improvements.”
The aim is for the digital board to be in place at the start of next season, which will be utilised to provide information and entertainment for supporters within the stadium as well as affording the club's commercial team and partners new opportunities for promotion and engagement.
If you disagree with the way such decisions are made, why not stand for election to the TB this year when the opportunity arises?
