I can not see why we would even offer him anything in a coaching role at any level when he has not given us anything to warrant that. He was a marquee signing by Taylor lauded as the missing link to get us goals and the board had backed him financially to make it happen. In return for reasons that have never been fully explained as to why he was unwilling to train but wasn’t injured and so couldn’t be selected to play. The end result being we were stuck with him until his contract ended.
Some of the things Taylor has said about players being released (Parkes for example) and then not really being drawn on Ajose too much, might lead you to conclude he was on a 3 year deal and this was some sort of compromise to get him off the playing budget. If we are doing him a favour because he has not finished his studies is a joke. Some sort of explanation if there is any truth in it should be forthcoming very soon.

Does anyone know the length of his original contract? Other big signings tended to be three years, meaning he would still have a year left. Could him being a youth coach be middle ground in terms of getting rid of him as a player but a better option than paying up the remainder of his contract.

Pure speculation.

No idea, but that scenario would make complete sense. If that is the case I really don't understand why that information can't be released.

It's very unfortunate we don't know the full story about Nicky. Unfortunately because of that, speculation becomes fact and he is seen in a very negative light. Who knows what the real problem was - physical, mental, whatever but at the end of the day it is his own career and wellbeing that has suffered (as well as success for ourselves of course). Our academy is brilliant and if indeed he is contributing to that through coaching then fair play to him. I really do think we need to have some real facts given to us from the club rather than posters castigate him at every opportunity. As with the ongoing Sam Stubbs position, no-one will have been more disappointed at the outcome than the player himself. I really love the ethos of our club but sometimes the lack of information on certain things is a bit disappointing - eg we kept asking about the Sonny Cox injury and nothing was forthcoming until it was recently said he'd been training for a couple of weeks and then plays in the U23 cup game.

Perhaps he can teach young Ben a trick or two.😜
Hopefully he'll teach him how to stay away from the first team for as long as possible!

Harsh but true.

Looks equally delighted at being caught on camera as training on an artificial pitch.

His playing contract expired (in June). He has been an Academy coach since last season. Perhaps, just perhaps he is having a very positive impact on some of our stars of the future. Given all that happened over the past two years perhps he is repaying the club in a different way? Perhaps he was the most disappointed person that despite wanting to play he couldnt show his potential due to how things panned out? Playing devils advocate and an alternative narrative to the "Ajose is the devil incarnate"
