IWell done, you got your degree and are £60-£80k worse off than the spud who went and got a job instead - you'll be gone 40 before you've made up the difference in salaries.
I reckon over 30 years I'm down by about £250k on graduates. And I missed out on all that free womanising, long holidays, networking, being made a Liberal Democrat and other useless stuff.

Seriously, most graduates that did well, will do well in the job place. Plus they can write 25000 word strategic documents that no one understands and if the company followed would be down the pan in about 3 months!

Its nice to know they f*ck up the civil service so well.

:D

Well done.
Depends on what career route you take though, doctors and lawyers need degrees and many others need some sort of qualification to supplement their knowledge gained from the job. Gaining RICS status is one thing that pretty much needs a degree (and certainly a large amount of studying) to acquire and can do great things for a salary.

I still think that experience counts for more in most cases though. I did journalism at Uni (largely because I had to pick something and, at 17, had no idea what I wanted to do). I stuck with it but was never really intending it as a career after about the first year. If I was an employer and had the choice of hiring someone fresh out of Uni or someone who had been doing vox pops and basic stories for 3 years then it's a no brainer.

:D :D

A lot of people laugh at me for going to an ex poly technic.
No, we laugh at you for doing a degree for which you are clearly under-skilled. :D

Cut the university courses to 18 months instead of 3 years. That will reduce the drinking, womanising and socialising as well as a lot of taxpayers money.

Simples.

Unless you did a GCSE in Burger Science or Advanced Fries, why would it?

Yes say that to the average 2:1 (evidence can be supplied) :D including a coursework mark of 75% in one assessment. Also say that to one of the biggest law firms in the south west (evidence can be supplied) as well as a big firm in Bristol who have both decided to give me work experience for a week (work experience is extremely hard to get for a first year pupil as they are mostly allocated to 2nd years) Also tell that to my tutor who says I am capable of doing the BPTC in 2 years (evidence can be supplied). So yes I am way under skilled for it :D

And Moxey liven up will you? University is not just about the qualification it is about the experience and the friends you meet that will be there for the rest of your life. It is about the binges and the waking up at whatever hour you want without the care in the world. It is the changes you make from when you go to university to when you come out of university. The qualifications are also extremely important in some careers such as Law, Medicine and others which you need degrees to stand a chance.

Well after going to uni I feel financially worse off but my mind was never in it and I like to do things the hard way anyways. I get no pleasure from reading several sources, compiling them together and then adding a bit of my own opinion anyway interesting and seems too easy to me. I feel like I am cheating in some way but then I do like to work through things and gather experience on the way. Studying requires some patience which I have none of so going to uni didn't do me any favours, but also it has opened doors as I can turn around and say I am a graduate and employers listen to that...but that effect will wear off after time and then experience will take over (i.e the passing of a break-even point where both are equally as important).

I pity the poor saps who waste three (or more) years at university getting a degree that no-one's interested in and then ending up in a job that they could have got three years ago.
I admire your personal astute observation about me. I pity myself most :)
