What’s all this rubbish about bad deal , he downed tools when
there was interest from north of the border .

There was no way at the end of the season he would have signed
any deal with us .
What do you think we should have offered him 3k a week to stay,
when he‘s probably on 5k a week from next week.

One thing You can’t complain about when we sell our young players
there’s plenty of add on‘s, how many of us would ever expect us
to have add on’s when Ollie was sold to Villa, a very clever deal
and England appearances.

The writing was on the wall very early in preseason he wouldn’t
be hanging around for too long.

Great deal. 500k plus add-ons for an unproven center back? I'd have bitten your hand off.

Kind words from Alfie. Perhaps he'll come back on loan one day.

Do we have any names from that group? Would like to follow their progress at youth level.
Here's the group of 10 when they signed scholarships a year ago. Also Aamir Daniels (and Pedro Borges?) joined since. This is the group that won that U15/U16 national championship 7-3 v Crewe during the pandemic. Definitely a group worth keeping tabs on.

He could end up being a small Pond in a big fish.

A cautionary tale is that George Friend moved to Wolves and that certainly didn't go swimmingly. He had to drop back down the pyramid and spend several years making it back up.

Whilst it is always a gamble signing for a big club where a youngster may never make it, and though it would help Alfie still to be playing mens rather than U21 football...

...I don't think that is exactly right about George. He signed for Wolves in the Championship in Sept 2008.

In his first season he made 5 championship appearances as Wolves won promotion to the Premier League.

In his second season he went out on loan (thank heaven!) as Wolves were in the Premiership.

For his third season he transferred to another Championship club and has played at Championship or Premiership level ever since.

So his path back to the Championship was only one year.It may not have seemed like that because the the one year contained 4 loan spells and the Championship side he played for in 2010-12 was...Doncaster Rovers!
