Jonathan Grounds Turns Down Exeter’s Contract Offer

On Saturday Exeter City confirmed that Jonathan Grounds had not accepted a new contract offer as player/coach. There is no rumour as to where Grounds intends to move to, though it is expected to be nearer the Midlands.

Grounds released a short message on Instagram

The Club released the following statement

“Exeter City Football Club can confirm that Jonathan Grounds will not be returning for the 23/24 season.

The experienced defender joined the Grecians in the summer of 2021 and would go on to make 44 appearances in red and white, scoring three goals.

Jonathan played a part in City’s promotion winning team of 21/22 with his experience and calmness often key in helping City to hold on to a lead.

All at Exeter City wish Jonathan the best with his next move.”

The 35 year old played 44 times over two seasons, mainly as a substitute, scoring three times and was a member of Matt Taylor’s promotion side.
