Not new programmes but BBC4 on a Friday evening have either reruns of classic TOTP and sometimes good concerts or documentaries about classic groups/singers also Sky Arts have some little gems too but in general CB is right
I regularly record programmes from both these channels.

BBC4 is often essential viewing for me on Friday nights.

Michael Portilo's railway journeys, Whether in the UK or abroad it's fascinating TV and the presenter seems genuinely interested in the subjects on his stops, Great way to spend half hour

I found the format of the USA really irritating.

Spend a few minutes at the beginning as to what is in the show, then what's in the next segment, storyline, summary of what we've just seen, what's coming up, a little bit more abut what's coming up, then the storyline, then a summary of what we've just seen. Just get on with telling the stories and let us look at the landscape please!

BTW. I do own a copy of the Appleton train guide (a reprint of course!).

Always fascinated by Mr Portaloo's 'fashion' choices, eg pea green jacket with crushed raspberry trousers.

"Guitar Heroes at the BBC" is another series frequently shown.

Wasn't there a programme a while ago called "Rock Family Trees"?

Utterly brilliant. Lasted about two series, shown on BBC2, IIRC. Shame they didn't keep oing, was interesting to see how bands were formed and the personnel moved on.
