Re: Matt Gill rejoins Exeter City until January on loan from Rovers

Hmmm, suspect that Oakley's out for a while then. Might work out O.K. for us in the short term.
Sounds a sensible answer.
anyone know how long he's been bac in training? but even with training dont think hes had any 1st

team footie for an age maybe a year or so? So tbh i wouldn't be expecting to much. but welcome bac

matty gill up and properly matchfit no doubt he'll be more than useful. Whether we'll see that

by xmas is another story

We now have the ability to profit with Sam Parkin's baldy heed in the box.

Oh hang on, they would both need to be fit at the same time.
It's not really a question of having the archetypal "big man in the box" - it's more the nature of Gill's throws. The long-throw specialists that cause teams problems tend to be the ones that can deliver the ball more quickly and with a flatter trajectory. The Gill type arrive too slowly, which makes it easy for the defence to set themselves.

Like I said, I can very rarely recall Gill's throws causing the opposition any particular problems.

A decent signing with most of his wages paid by another club.

A good deal.

every rovers person I know are claiming he's the most injury prone player they've ever seen.....
That will be the both of them then!:$

Another club were in for him 2 weeks ago but pulled out at last minute, the fact Wardy kept him in the squad prob suggests his attitude was good , if he stays fit im sure he will do ok for you but never really got started at Rovers and when he did play he was average .. not the worse but not that good either, good move for both clubs & the player i would think!

Not a bad signing but I do question what the Docs role will be in the squad now. They are very similar players to me, both neat and tidy on the ball (get it and give it quickly) and both very adept at doing the ugly and unseen things very well. The only difference that I can see between them is Gilly can be a little more expansive in his play and his previously mentioned long throw. Now Gilly is back though, wait for Ryan Harley to return in January.

Would rather Grimes had a run in the side.

Agree with Manc, though I also think Gill will certainly add value if he plays.

Play two holding midfielders so that Sercs can bomb on and get his wonder shots in.....;)

So now we have about 26 centre mids? Oakley must be out for a while I'm guessing. Not a bad player to bring in but not 100% sure he was needed.

Also where does this leave Dawson? Behind Butterfield, Baldwin, JMT and by the how we might line up tomorrow Davies in the right back position. And behind Sercombe, Oakley, Bennett, Doc, Grimes, Jimmy and now presumably Gill in the centre midfield role.
