Ah. Mr TES Cohen started Tesco though.
Sir Jack Cohen actually, he nicked the TES from somewhere else :p

Either way, the name of the business is Tesco and should not be called Tesco's under any circumstances as it is just plain wrong. It's just the same as calling Next, Next's or Marks and Spencer, Marks and Spencer's....No No No

But surely Marks's and Spencers's, as a claim of ownership, might (just) be gramatically correct?

But what the heck. I prefer give the benefit of my trade to the chain of emporia founded by our only ever Championship winning manager - The Coop (or should that be Coops' or Coops's?)

See that's brought me out in a cold sweat!! You've basically said Spencerses there. The name of the shop is Marks and Spencer so no need for the additional s or 's.

There are two possible origins of the Tesco name:

1) Tessa Cohen, the said Jack Cohen's wife.

2) In 1924 Jack bought a shipment of tea from T E Stockwell and added these initials to Cohen

It is generally accepted that 2) is more probable. 8-|

Are you a t-shirt and scarf kind of guy, Greeky? You must need something to keep your neck warm since your mane was shorn.

The bleddy full stop on this laptop Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't Occasionally I get annoyed with it and type in an ellipsis... instead. Suppose I ought to clean it out, but no doubt I'd lose some of the screws
