The more I see and hear from Ryan bowman, the more I like,he gives it all every game and was honest enough to come out and say what we were all thinking, the performance wasn’t good enough and the players know it,if he can stay fit I think he will have a good season !

Now safely converted to HF68
Instinctive would be a better word.
Definitely adjusted his foot very good reaction - think Instinctive is indeed the word to sum it up

Awful to watch yesterday, but we won. Hopefully the new coaching team will help Matt sort out the tactics and team selection.

Interesting who didn’t make the bench yesterday. Not in the 18 were hyped youngsters Sparkes and (loanee) Cundy. There is plenty of time for them to get an opportunity.

But also Tillson. Is he not part of MT’s plans, even as a sub?

If MT is going to continue playing a 4-4-2 long ball approach than playing a diamond midfield could work wonders. Bring Law into a central position and play Williams/Martin offf the front two would add another dimension to our game. Our central midfield pairing looked weak.

Culpable for all three I'd say?

No-one here cares anymore.

One game down 45 to go but if we play like we did in the first half and even as the first 20 minutes of the second half we will spend the season looking up as opposed to looking down as until then we looked lack lustre and lethargic and played with no tempo.

We seemed to just sit back and completely surrendered the midfield to Macclesfield. Had they not left their shooting boots behind at Macclesfield Ward would have had a lot to do and we would probably have gone in two nil down. Play like that against better teams and they will be out of sight before we know it.

Only three players came out of today’s game with credit Lewis Ward, Ryan Bowman and Randell Williams.

Lewis Ward made a number of good saves the pick of them being a close in point blank save from a header midway through the first half and mid way through the second half an excellent flying diving save from a well hit curving drive just outside the area palming the ball away past his left hand upright for a corner

Sweeney had one of his poorest games to date with his distribution of the ball being diabolical.
Moxey was sound defensively but as with Sweeney rarely ventured over the halfway line.

Both Aaron Martin and Tom Parker had reasonable games and hopefully will achieve a better understanding of each other’s game the more games they play together.

Midfield Nicky Law, Archie Collins and Jake Taylor played as if they had only just been introduced to one another. None of them even when in the second half we began to take the game to Macclesfield were very influential.

Jake Taylor apart from committing a couple of unnecessary fouls and getting himself booked relatively early in the first half was virtually anonymous. Archie Collins came more into the game second half but again contributed little. Nicky Law until the arrival of Lee Martin hardly touched ball.

Out wide Randell Williams offered little in the first half but was a revelation in the second. He obviously has real potential and could well be a key player in the games ahead.

Our two strikers Nicky Ajose and Ryan Bowman worked hard making runs for balls which rarely came and fed on scraps for much of the game. Nicky Ajose looked lost at times but will benefit from more game time to work on and develop a partnership with Ryan Bowman.

It was no real surprise when he was substituted for Lee Martin with the change of formation at last bringing Nicky Law into the game. Ryan Bowman as usual worked his socks off and at last started to get some support and service winning his areal battles and bringing others, in particular Randell Williams, into the game.

The winning goal came late in the game and whilst being a little fortunate with a Nicky Law hard hit shot being way off target rebounding from a Macclesfield defender to Ryan Bowman and into an unguarded net.

Fortunate yes but Ryan Bowman had to be in the right position for that to have happened and for me, given the performance he had put in throughout the game, for him to be credited with the goal was no more than he deserved.

So summing as the typical end of term report might have said “could do and must do better”.

It took dara o'shea a while to establish himself in the first team last season. They'll all get their chance at some point.

Wondering if I'm on a different planet
I was rather disappointed with Cundy in his sub appearance against Swansea. He's a big. solid looking guy with the manoeuvrability of an oil tanker!

Think it's fairly obvious that Tillson can go if someone wants him.

Disappointed that Woodman got the nod over Sparkes
