Another good, disciplined, team performance. Peterborough were a much tougher proposition than Southend.

Ollie's goal was a cheeky back-heel across the goal and in.

We should have had more and hit the woodwork twice. Tom had a few chances but not as sharp yet as last season. Couldn't argue with the sending off (second yellow). Two deliberate fouls from the same player to halt promising attacks from us.

Would have liked a second goal to steady the nerves but we held out OK with the ball mostly in their half the last 20 minutes.

Shame the first team can't do that.

Good team performance. Seven changes to last time. Missed the quality of the over age players (as well as Jamie Reid and JMT). Tom McCready seemed to go off injured in the first half. Had a lot of chances we couldn't put away. As already said, they were a much better side than Southend. Other than corners and free kicks they didn't create many clear cut chances. Josh Read had his hands full with their big striker, but he held his ground (picked up a yellow in the process). Would like to know how he is getting on with Turo.

Was impressed with Mustafa Rehemi, very lively. Jamie Harknes was a new name, did OK.

So on to the next round.

Here and there
Tonight was actually the 2nd Qualifying round. The next (3rd) round is called "The Round of 32" (because there are 32 teams in it in total). The new teams coming in next time (to add to those that got through the 2nd Qualifying Round) are:-

Category One Academies in round of 32

Blackburn Rovers
Brighton & Hove Albion
Chelsea
Derby County
Everton
Fulham
Leicester City
Liverpool
Middlesbrough
Newcastle United
Norwich City
Reading
Southampton
Stoke City
Sunderland
Swansea City
West Bromwich Albion
West Ham United
Wolverhampton Wanderers

The Round of 32 has to be played within 14 days of 9th November. Not sure when the draw is made.

Think you will find that it is Jamie REID, who is at Truro, along with Connor Riley-Lowe. Someone recently posted an update on our players who are out on loan, but think it is "hidden away" under another thread title, so could take a bit of finding.

Post-match thoughts of Danny Butterfield. http://www.exetercityfc.co.uk/news/article/butts-were-starting-to-look-a-good-team-2742539.aspx

An away tie in the South-East would be appreciated, give the rest of us a chance to see them in action. :S

Thoughts of Josh Read http://www.exetercityfc.co.uk/news/article/read-well-give-the-next-round-a-good-go-2742567.aspx
