He’s spoken a fair bit of nonsense over the years when given a platform. Personally, I would take anything he says relating to finances with a pinch of salt. For the record, I don’t think he is dishonest.

Taggy didn't say our current playing budget was 12th or 13th, he said the transfer fees we have received would enable us to "keep a competitive playing budget at around 12th to 13th in the league for the next two years." So it may well be a little higher than that this year.

For context, as has been stated several times on different threads, unless something has changed recently each EFL club has to report to the the league their playing budget (P1) and budgeted turnover to make sure they conform with FFP rules. This is done twice a year, IIRC. They are then informed where their players wages budget is in their league - 1st, 12th, or wherever. They are NOT told the actual budget of any other club, however.
