Noice.

I wonder if it was recorded in the 90s, her phrasing is quite Cobain-esque.
Not sure, it was on a covers album she did. Had Raining blood on it and a real mix of stuff. Some of it worked, some of it didn't.

Was there ever a 'cover versions' thread on here? I do love a quirky cover.

Good songwriting will always shine through I reckon.

Never done this before
Ooof. And you were doing so well up to that point...
I wondered if that would provoke a reaction :).

Sentimental value Swanny - it was the first song I heard after my daughter was born, always reminds me of her.

Had a fairly long drive on Britain's motorways today so had chance to listen to a few tunes...

Radiohead's High and Dry
and
The Beatles' Don't Let Me Down

both stood out as almost perfect examples of songwriting

The Beatles doing this song on the rooftop is one of my favourite live performances.
John's singing.
Paul's bass playing.
Ringo and George's understated but essential drumming and guitar playing.
Billy Preston's keyboards.

And that great middle 8.

Love it.

I would put money on fbh going in heavy with Depeche Mode tracks.
They’d definitely be in there. My favourite DM track is In Your Room so I’d start with that, maybe twice with different versions.

On the subject of cover versions, I love listening to entire albums of DM covers, there’s a few to choose from. And a Greek duo called Marsheaux covered the A Broken Frame album, in a very different way which is really interesting.

Better than Halo?

Also have a soft spot for Blue Dress and Goodnight Lovers.

Yes, although Halo is a belter and is the best song on Violator. I also love the Goldfrapp remix, have you heard that? They did that version live the last time I saw them and it was fantastic.
