The point is if he's got a contract how can they afford to get rid?
All managers have contracts and almost all managers get sacked

Johnson to get his P45 by end of Sep unless they get a minimum of 4 points from next 3 games. Squad is lower conference south standard and club is 3M in Debt
I understood from their forum it was £4M.

Not even Torquay would sack Johnson, after being just a penalty shoot out away from the league last season.
Whoever is managing them will find it incredibly tough this season with the likes of Wrexham, Chesterfield, Stockport and Notts all splashing the cash to get back

Don't forget two dodgy referee decisions in disallowing two goals as well!

I think Torquay will have to accept like we did last year a 'transitional' year and hope some of the 'big' money clubs move on before their next challenge for promotion. However how long the money lasts could be another matter.

The debt formally accounted for up to the end of March 2020 was just over £3M.

Past operating losses were running close to £1M/year, and add the effect of the pandemic, so a current debt (about 18 months later) in excess of £4M would be a reasonable guess.

It's getting hard to understand what the owner's game plan is. If he does have in mind some kind of property deal involving Plainmoor, he may not come out of it in profit even if he did pull it off. But given he doesn't own the freehold that wouldn't be straightforward in any case.

Backing Gary Caldwell, thanks Matt and good luck.
With Johnson talking of shedding some players not rising to the challenge, good times had by all!
was surprised to read Johnson saying some players weren’t up to the required standard, and claiming they didn’t have a lot of time to recruit.

At the end of the day he is an experienced manager so buck stops with him if his signings flop. Could see Matt Taylor being roundly criticised here if he had said similar. How does Johnson hope to get rid of these players if he is admitting they are below conference standard?

Loving the boy Stanno
Yet some were lauding Johnson at the start of the preseason for how quickly he was doing his transfer business, and criticising Matt Taylor for not doing the same.

Slowly, slowly, catchy monkey. I could catch a monkey.
