Even managed to get a table seat (with power socket) I hope, so I can happily ExeWeb my way all the way to deepest, darkest Yarkshire and back [y]
G2K you have nothing to worry about, all Crosscountry trains have a power point by every seat.

I think you'll find the FGW trains on the Paddington route do have power points by every seat, have done for the last 2 years. ;)

Much better to book a hotel in central sheffield as the ground is some way from the city itself. Probably about 3 miles. There's a tram all the way but these stop fairly early so you'll be looking at a taxi if you go out after the game.

There's holiday inns/travel lodge's in the centre which are cheap and also b&b's...

Come play with us Danny, forever and ever and ever
Sheffield has a great nightlife, cut can be dangerous.

Dangerous?? Sheffield is a wicked city and just as long as the bother boys don't travel up (very embarrassing bunch), you'll be sure to have a wicked time out in Sheffield.

Getting there:

Plane - Flybe to Leeds/Bradford and train it down to Sheffield Midland Station.

Train - Virgin XCountry but think there is a change in Birmingham New Street

Car - M5 to J4a, M42, A42, M1 North to J33, Parkway to Mosborough/Darnall turnoff. Follow signs to Meadowhall and left to Valley Centertainment (Don Valley Stadium is located on Attercliffe Road with reasonable VC/Hallam FM Arena/side street parking). Easy job - 4.5 hours at fair travelling speed.
Straight down Parkway to Park Square Rdabt and take 3rd exit up to Arundel Gate/City Centre.

Accommodation:

Don't be fooled into stopping at Premier Inn Meadowhall, unless you favour cinema/shopping mall experience.
There are a number of worthy spots to stop at, recommending Sheffield city centre as close to nightlife and easy access transport links.
Supertram is a very cost effective mode; if you stop in the centre you will likely be at Novotel, Jurys Inn, Grosvenor Hotel, or pushing the boat out on either Mercure St Pauls (highly recommended) or Holiday Inn Victoria Quay.
Tram on the Yellow line @ West Street/Castle Square/Cathedral stops in the direction of Meadowhall. Don Valley Stadium is a stop in itself about 12 mins out of the city (£2.50-£2.90).

Nightlife:

Good outposts for nightlife include; West Street (long road full of bars), Division Street (slightly shorter but still full of bars) and Devonshire Green, Ecclesall Road (fancy restaurants and slightly funky bars, Hallam Uni student zone) and Broomhill/Crookes (at a push - Sheffield Uni student zone).
Bars/Clubs names change more frequently than the allegiances of a Torquay United fan - but Walkabout Inn & Flares on Carver Street (between West St and Division Street), (formerly known as Kingdom nightclub), possibly Charles St. (if that floats ya boat!!!) or Leadmill.
Avoid areas like Pitsmoor, Manor, Park Hill/Cricket Inn and London Road/Netheredge if you want a troublefree night.

**For the rotters out there-the gentlemen's clubs are on Attercliffe Road (5 mins from the ground ironically) or Spearmint Rhino's on Brown Street (5 mins from Midland Station.

Shopping:

Meadowhall aka Megahell (got everything and some)
Fargate
The Moor (for all your chav accessories)
Castle Market
Hillsborough Barracks
Crystal Peaks

Restaurants:

Book early to avoid disappointment but we like Marenello's on Ecclesall Road S11, opposite Berkeley Square. Yankees and Champs are also good along there.
Town is good for food, West Street has a few choices like Nandos and the Wetherspoon's Swim Inn.

Either way - whatever your plans, you will have a wicked time in Sheffield. Oh and if you like Sunday roast are milling around at lunchtime on Sunday and with own transport - worthy of a visit is the Toby Inn Parkhead which does a really good choice, and a personal favourite of ours.

EE BYE GUM!!
