As is currently being discussed on another thread, Russel Brand has resigned, & Jonathan Ross's future is being 'considered', following a prank phone-call to Andrew Sachs, which, after a campaign by the Daily Mail, led to more than 30,000 complaints being made to the BBC.

Meanwhile, in other news, The Daily & Sunday Express, The Daily Star, The Daily & Sunday Mirror, The Metro, The London Evening Standard (part of the same company which owns the Mail), The Daily Mail, the Sun & The News of the World, have all been found guilty, & been forced to pay damages to the McCanns & the so-called 'Tapas Seven', for printing articles for which they admitted having no evidence, which they admitted having made no attempt to check the veracity of, & which contained allegations which they subsequently admitted had no foundation whatsoever.

Not a single journalist, editor or senior executive from any of these "newspapers", or the companies which own them, has been fined, nor has a single person lost their job as a result of the publication of nearly 100 articles in these newspapers...100 articles which consisted wholly in lies & nothing else...whatsoever.

Oh yes...& these 100 articles were also deemed by the courts to be "grossly defamatory"...as well as being "wholly without foundation", & "completely untrue".

I see the resignation of Radio 2 controller Lesley Douglas has been announced - an example of a senior figure in the public sector taking responsibility.

Meanwhile, in other news, still not a single resignation from anyone one in any of the organisations relating to The Daily & Sunday Express, The Daily Star, The Daily & Sunday Mirror, The Metro, The London Evening Standard, The Daily Mail, the Sun & The News of the World, all of which repeatedly printed defamatory lies passing themselves off as 'news' stories, but which were, in fact, completely made up & completely untrue.

Here's a link reporting damages to Murat & 2 others, & citing the various newspapers I mentioned.

Here's a link to a BBC article covering Express Newspapers' payment of damages to the McCanns.

This is a link to the Times' report of the Press Association announcement of damages paid by Express Newspapers to the 'Tapas 7'.

Thanks.

Says it all really. Have had the misfortune to meet some Press Association types and the odd journo here and there and to say they are up their own ass*s is an understatement.

You make a very good point but unfortunately one lost on the 'sheeple' who read these papers and believe every word.
