The racing mutt has 157
Just a mutt these days.

I hadn't tried to work out my score - just saw that I wasn't among those listed at the wrong end of the table.

Incidentally, spot the deliberate mistake. In just noticing players had scored odd numbers, which ought to be impossible, I found I had two teams in 16th place and nobody in 17th.

The end of October update will be devoid of such errors, on which I will blame having to quickly get the numbers into the spreadsheet at 6:30am before my computer conked out (new battery now arrived)!

Here is the prediction from When Saturday Comes before the season started. It is composed by amalgamating the predictions from each club’s correspondent (bar one). I am guessing that this is quite likely to be fairly accurate and possibly close to what the bookies odds would have. Though the tip for top of the table isn’t looking good so far!

1. Notts County
2. Lincoln
3. MKDons
4. Northampton
5. Swindon
6. Mansfield
7. Oldham
8. Exeter
9. Newport
10. Colchester
11. Carlisle
12. Bury
13. Tranmere
14. Cambridge
15. Crawley
16. Crewe
17. Grimsby
18. Stevenage
19. Port Vale
20. Forest Green
21. Macclesfield
22. Cheltenham
23. Yeovil
24. Morecambe

I make it a current score of 146 (E&O excepted) which would have this very high up....

Excellent thread this!

Have a listen to our predictions in our League Two 2018/19 Preview Podcast

Enjoy!

Great fun,this.

This lot predicted that City would finish 17th. 17th!

As Jason points out only a truly dodgy predictor would have a score of more than 200. Their predictions - helpfully recorded on page 5 of this thread- are truly dreadful so far, with a mahoosive 202 points, which would leave them miles clear at the bottom of the prediction table

Their predictions for the top six included four teams, Cambridge Port Vale Mansfield and Notts County, who are all in the bottom half of the table. Conversely the top six actually includes three teams , Newport, Exeter and Tranmere that they predicted would be in the bottom eight.

They have got something nearly right. They predicted a gap of sixteen places between Notts County and ECFC. The gap is actually seventeen places. Not bad, except that they said Notts County would be sixteen places *ahead* of City when they are now 17 places *behind*. IIRC part of their reasoning for Notts County was that County had got rid of the ‘inconsistent’ Jonathan Forte.

Of course we all know that much can change between the autumn and the end of season. But for now...enjoy!

End of October update:

With things starting to settle down and teams in the main beginning to move towards where we think they ought to be, the scoring is now a lot better for the most part.

We have a clear leader in A Slacker, who has 128 points, ahead of one of our Norgers, ORy, with 136 and a four-way tie for third between STURTZ, our Pompey guest sign of the chimes, speedyflo and CC all on 138.

At the other end, after some rather "out there" predictions contrabombarde has been cast adrift and through the dreaded 200 point barrier on 204. Dulverton Witch is next with 190, with two players (ExeterCityLad and Stuffy) peering nervously over their shoulders on 186.

We're spot on as far as Crewe are concerned (predicted and actual 17th), but are miles away for Forest Green (predicted 20th, actual 6th), Newport (predicted 19th, actual 4th), Northampton (predicted 7th, actual 18th) and Notts County (predicted 2nd, actual 22nd).

End of November update:

Things are incredibly tight now, with 12 players within 10 points of the joint leaders, speedyflo and Hants_red on 128 points. Max Payne 2 is on his own in 3rd place with 130.

At the other end, contrabombarde continues to pay the price for some rather outlandish predictions, and is on his own in last place with 202 points, fully 14 points adrift of Stuffy and Dulverton Witch on 188.

We're spot on as far as Crawley are concerned (actual and median 14th), but we continue to be miles apart on Notts County (actual 23rd, median 2nd), with Forest Green, Newport and Northampton all 10+ places better or worse than predicted.

End of December update:

At the halfway point we have a new leader: D_Lo_ has moved into top spot with 118. mustangspeed has moved into second with 124 while long time front runner speedyflo is third with 130.

At the other end of the table contrabombarde has broken 200 but is still propping up the table with 196, with stuffy and scottus86 looking over their shoulders on 188.

No clubs are doing exactly as predicted, the closest being Oldham (predicted 11.5, actual 11), while three clubs are more than 10 places away from where we thought they'd be - Forest Green (median 20th, actual 6th), Notts County (median 2nd, actual 24th) and tomorrow's opponents Swindon (median 4th, actual 14th).

End of January update:

D_Lo_ has extended his lead at the top to 12 points with 116, ahead of Greyhound on 128 and The Proper Chap gliding into 3rd place on 130.

Back down on 200 points at the bottom is contrabombarde, fully 12 points behind Billy The Fish on 188 then Red & White on 186, and another 10 point gap beyond that.

We're spot on in terms of predicting Colchester currently, while it's largely the same teams doing us badly as they have all season: Bury (median 15th, actual 3rd), Forest Green (median 20th, actual 4th), Northampton (median 7th, actual 17th) and of course Notts County (median 2nd, actual 24th).
