Fair point above re Tillson - think he can do a job there in the middle doing the "ugly" stuff
A little unfair to blame the whole team for our goals against column....apart from the LB position which has been a problem all season our defenders individual look good players but they lack real height across the middle and tend to switch off to often...just look at the second Carlise goal last week 1 Carlise player reacted quicker to a ball back off the crossbar than 4 of our defenders stood next to him...you can't blame that kind of thing on defending from the front.
You mean the same centrebacks being put forward for player of the year!Good idea. Perhaps it will motivate our center backs
Have another look Troy was to easily out jumped for that goal!!Think you'll find as the goal was scored, the scorer was surrounded by a mixture of midfielders and defenders. Just the point people are trying to make on this thread.
Trouble is the ugly stuff seems, too often, to involve fouling players and giving away free kicks in dodgey areas.Fair point above re Tillson - think he can do a job there in the middle doing the "ugly" stuff
If the whole team defended the short corner properly the bloke on the edge of the box wouldn't have had a shot. They had enough warnings, in that game and against Oxford. There seems little if any determination to keep a clean sheet.A little unfair to blame the whole team for our goals against column....apart from the LB position which has been a problem all season our defenders individual look good players but they lack real height across the middle and tend to switch off to often...just look at the second Carlise goal last week 1 Carlise player reacted quicker to a ball back off the crossbar than 4 of our defenders stood next to him...you can't blame that kind of thing on defending from the front.
Two players went out to close that corner down but the Carlisle player was too quick for both of them...are you really saying all 10 of our outfield players should have charged out in attempt to close it down??If the whole team defended the short corner properly the bloke on the edge of the box wouldn't have had a shot. Holmes went, then Harley half heartedly joined in once the 2 on 1 had been established then the 3rd player joined in and we were to slow to react as usual. Two players went out to close that corner down but the Carlisle player was too quick for both of them...are you really saying all 10 of our outfield players should have charged out in attempt to close it down??
No I'm not saying that, we are so poor at defending high balls into the box and don't have the defenders to deal with it...I just don't believe that a lack of defending from the front is the problem!Surely you can't be saying that a team that concedes 3 goals from short corners in a matter of weeks is defending them properly?
