Did like him in smaller parts like Dredd but also remember his fingernails growing in Needful things.

He was what you called a "Complex Character" Knew his stuff but never endeared himself to the band's he managed. RIP

Total stalwart of TV/Dance Halls/Theatre/Pantomime from the 50's to very recently, Plus an encyclopedia of knowledge of the old school actors/films etc. RIP

Only just found out about this. I realise this thread is not for sincere reminiscences (see the OP and, Lord knows, I've taken the **** a bit), but... My mum wrote to Roy Hudd, who was a buff on the history of comedy, because she is (we are) cousins removed of the Western Brothers, a 1930s satirical musical act - think Flanders and Swann or Kit and The Widow - and he was good enough to send a cassette of some of their recordings at a time when they were verify difficult to get hold of.
